TASCA hosts dance

Ben Lowry and Texas Express will play for the country & western dance at TASCA on Saturday, Aug. 2, 7- 9:30 p.m. Entry is $5. Tyler Area Senior Citizens Association is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd) in Whitehouse. Call Billie at 903-871-3217 for more details.

Troup High School reunion set

The 1970s-1980s graduating classes of Troup High School are set for to celebrate with a reunion on Saturday, Aug. 2, 6-11 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 5701 S. Broadway in Tyler. The event cost of $20 per person or $30 per couple includes heavy appetizers, cash bar and a great time. To complete your registration, make checks payable to “70s-80s Troup Reunion” and mail to Kilgore National Bank, P.O. Box 457 Troup, TX 75789.

Clothes Closet open

The Clothes Closet at the Church of Christ, 412 W. Duval in Troup, is open the first Tuesday of the month for those in need of clothing for their family. Doors are open 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

Dixie Masonic Lodge to meet

The Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup will meet Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall.

Outdoor warning system test

The cities of Troup and Whitehouse test the outdoor warning siren system the first Tuesday of each month. Troup’s system is tested at 11 a.m. and the Whitehouse system is tested at 1 p.m. Should there be inclement weather the testing will be postponed to the following month.

AARP driver safety program offered

The next AARP Driver Safety course is set for Wednesday, Aug. 6, 12:30-4:40 p.m., at Green Acres Baptist Church. The cost for AARP members is $15 with non-members paying $20. After completion of the 4 hour course you may be entitled to a discount on your automobile insurance. To register for a class call Randy Vanderstay at 903-752-0240.

Game Time for Seniors

Game Time for Senior Citizens will be Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 1-3 p.m. at the Troup library. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.

Recycle-Recycle-Recycle

Whitehouse Recycle Center is open Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Avenue.

Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.

Church Activities

Whitehouse UMC hosts breakfast

The First United Methodist Church of Whitehouse hosts breakfast the first Saturday of the month from 8- 10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted. The church is located at 405 W. Main.

WISD calls special meeting

Whitehouse ISD will hold a special called meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Wildcat Drive Annex, 109 Wildcat Drive. Following a presentation and discussion of a recent facilities report, the trustees will complete a board training session.
