Community Activities

Jam session and sing along

Jam session and sing along runs from 1:30-4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), Whitehouse.

TWCO meets Monday

The Troup Women’s Civic Organization will meet Monday, Aug. 25

6:30 p.m. at the Troup library. The program will be presented by Preston Lindsey, Troup ISD Ag teacher to share the FFA students involvement, competition and their awards.

Troup Young Farmers meet Tuesday

The Troup Young Farmers will hold their first meeting of the new school year Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Troup High School cafeteria. This meeting will be for any Troup Young Farmer or FFA student who has a livestock project they want to show at the East Texas State Fair in Tyler. The Troup Ag teachers will be at the meeting to sign up student's projects for the Fair; please be prepared to pay all entry fees and if you have a heifer you must bring registration papers in the student’s name. This is also an information meeting for any student interested in joining Troup Young Farmers.

Processed-free support group at YMCA

The Whitehouse YMCA will host a free support group for processed-free living on Tuesday, July 22 at 11:15 a.m. The Whitehouse YMCA is located at 301 Terry St. For more information contact Lavonia Nowell at 903-504-6321.

Troup Cub Scout night set

Troup’s School Night for Scouting is set for Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Troup Elementary. Boys grades 1-5 interested in Cub Scouts are invited to come and bring their parents. More information can be found online at: http:// troupcubscouts0375.weebly.com/.

Church Activities

Beth Moore simulcast coming

Whitehouse First Assembly of God will host a special day of worship and Bible teaching with Beth Moore live via internet broadcast on a huge video screen. Early Bird tickets are $30 and will include general admission, a catered Chick Fil A boxed lunch, snacks and drinks. Purchase tickets through the website www.mywfa.org. Ticket prices will go up to $40 after Sept. 1 and will end on Sept. 8. Seating is first come first serve, and the doors will open at 9:30 a.m.

Troup UMC to celebrate anniversary

Troup’s First United Methodist Church will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their church building on Sunday, Sept. 7. Coffee and fellowship is set for 9:45-10:45 a.m. followed by services. Everyone is invited to attend.

Government Activities

WISD trustees to meet

The Whitehouse ISD trustees will meet on Monday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Wildcat Drive Annex, 109 Wildcat Drive.

Troup trustees to meet

Troup ISD trustees will meet at noon on Monday, Aug. 25 at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina.

Whitehouse City Council to meet

Whitehouse City Council will meet Thursday, Aug. 21 and Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main.
