Community Activities

Clothes Closet open

The Clothes Closet at the Church of Christ, 412 W. Duval in Troup, is open the first Tuesday of the month for those in need of clothing for their family. Doors are open 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

Outdoor warning system test

The cities of Troup and Whitehouse test the outdoor warning siren system the first Tuesday of each month. Troup’s system is tested at 11 a.m. and the Whitehouse system is tested at 1 p.m. Should there be inclement weather the testing will be postponed to the following month.

Dixie Masonic Lodge to meet

The Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup will meet Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall.

AARP driver safety program offered

The next AARP Driver Safety course is set for Wednesday, Dec. 3, 12:30-4:40 p.m., at Green Acres Baptist Church. The cost for AARP members is $15 with non-members paying $20. After completion of the 4 hour course you may be entitled to a discount on your automobile insurance. Contact Harry H. Game Time for Seniors

Game Time for Senior Citizens will be Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 1-3 p.m. at the Troup library. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.

Get up and move

Get in the groove and on the move with your friends at Tyler Area Senior Citizens Association in Whitehouse. On Wednesday and Friday mornings, 9:30- 10:30 a.m., senior adults gather to flex their muscles and tone up for life beyond the rocking chair. The typically includes cardio, muscle toning and stretching exercise set at a pace that everyone’s pacemaker can keep up with. The cost is $4 per class for TASCA members and $5 for non-members.

Library hours

Regular library hours for the Whitehouse Community Library are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., Fridays 11-5 and Saturdays 11-3. Story time is on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Contact the library at 903- 839-2949 for more information. The library will be closed Nov. 26-29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Regular hours for the Cameron-J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 1-5 p.m. Thursday 3-7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the library at 903-842-3101 for more information. Thanksgiving week the library will be closed Nov. 27- 29 and reopen on Dec. 2.

Recycle-Recycle-Recycle

Whitehouse Recycle Center is open Wednesdays from 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Avenue.

Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.

American Legion weekly events

American Legion in Troup at 301 Magnolia has karaoke every Sunday 7-11 p.m. Pool tournaments begin at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday night.

School Activities

WH Band Boosters meet Tuesday

The Whitehouse Band Boosters will meet Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. in the WHS band hall.
