Community Activities

Poinsettias on sale

WHS horticulture is selling their poinsettias again this year. Offered are red, white and marble varieties. Each wrapper gallon size container has two plants at a cost of $7. Email order to Claire Cooper at cooperc@whitehouseisd.org. Pick up will be Nov. 30- Dec. 4 during school hours.

Clothes Closet open

The Clothes Closet at the Church of Christ, 412 W. Duval in Troup, is open the first Tuesday of the month for those in need of clothing for their family. Doors are open 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

Outdoor warning system test

The cities of Troup and Whitehouse test the outdoor warning siren system the first Tuesday of each month. Troup’s system is tested at 11 a.m. and the Whitehouse system is tested at 1 p.m. Should there be inclement weather the testing will be postponed to the following month.

Dixie Masonic Lodge to meet

The Dixie Masonic Lodge #272 in Troup will meet Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the lodge hall.

AARP driver safety program offered

The next AARP Driver Safety course is set for Wednesday, Dec. 2, 12:30-4:40 p.m., at Green Acres Baptist Church. The cost for AARP members is $15 with non-members paying $20. After completion of the 4 hour course you may be entitled to a discount on your automobile insurance. Contact Harry H. Game Time for Seniors

Game Time for Senior Citizens will be Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 1-3 p.m. at the Troup library. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.

Library hours

Regular library hours for the Whitehouse Community Library are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., Fridays 11-5 and Saturdays 11-3. Story time is on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Contact the library at 903- 839-2949 for more information.

Regular hours for the Cameron-J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 1-5 p.m. Thursday 3-7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the library at 903-842-3101 for more information.


Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans.

Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.

Church Activities

Bascom UMC hosts breakfast

The Bascom United Methodist Church on FM 848 hosts breakfast the last Saturday of the month from 8 - 9:30 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted.

School Activities

WH Band Boosters meet Tuesday

The Whitehouse Band Boosters will meet Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. in the WHS band hall.
