Community Activities

Jam session and sing along

Jam session and sing along runs from 1:30-4 p.m. on Friday, July 24. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), Whitehouse.

TYA sign up Saturday

Registration for TYA football and cheer wraps up this Saturday, July 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the baseball/ softball fields on Arp Drive in Troup. For information, contact Shane or Tonya Jasper at 469-243-6091 or visit “Troup Youth Association” on Facebook.

Processed-free support group at YMCA

The Whitehouse YMCA will host a free support group for processed-free living on Tuesday, July 28 at 11:15 a.m. The Whitehouse YMCA is located at 301 Terry St. For more information contact Lavonia Nowell at 903-504-6321.

TWCO meeting

The Troup Women’s Civic Organization will travel out Hwy. 135 to The Venue owned by Byron and Hope Rehkop to visit their peach orchard and the beautiful facility offered for weddings, meetings and parties. If you’d like to travel with the group, they will leave the Troup library at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 28.

Get up and move

Get in the groove and on the move with your friends at Tyler Area Senior Citizens Association in Whitehouse. On Wednesday and Friday mornings, 9:30- 10:30 a.m., senior adults gather to flex their muscles and tone up for life beyond the rocking chair. The typically includes cardio, muscle toning and stretching exercise set at a pace that everyone’s pacemaker can keep up with. The cost is $4 per class for TASCA members and $5 for non-members.

Church Activities

Bascom UMC hosts breakfast

The Bascom United Methodist Church on FM 848 hosts breakfast the last Saturday of the month from 8 - 9:30 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted.

Gospel singing

Come to a Gospel Singing, open mic, on Saturday, July 25, 4-7 p.m. at New Creation Foundation Chapel, 405 S. Joy St. in Troup. Come and worship through song, praise dancing, testimonies, prayer and karaoke every third and fourth Saturday through December. Performance time slots can be reserved by calling host Carole Land at 281-793-8489.


Troup First United Methodist Church will host Camp Discovery – Jesus at Work Through Us VBS on July 27-31, 5-8 p.m. for ages 4 years-6th grade. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. Call the church at 903-842-3320 for more information.

WISD trustees to meet

The Whitehouse ISD trustees will meet on Monday, July 27 at 6 p.m. at the Wildcat Drive Annex, 109 Wildcat Drive.

Whitehouse City Council to meet

Whitehouse City Council will meet Tuesday, July 28 at 6 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main.
