Republican Club

Smith County Republican Club will hold its February meeting on Thursday, Feb. 11 at Traditions restaurant in Tyler at 6:30 p.m. This meeting will host candidates for Texas Senate District 1 (Tyler, Longview, Texarkana, Paris). The meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited beginning at 6 pm to meet and greet.

TASCA offers Jam Session

Jam Session and sing along runs from 1:30-4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate. Acoustic instruments only. Music includes Country, Bluegrass and Gospel. TASCA members are free. Guests are $1 each. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd), Whitehouse.

American Legion

Troup American Legion and Sons of the Legion will meet Saturday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Legion hall.

Tax help offered

AARP will offer tax assistance to the elderly and low income citizens at Whitehouse UMC on Tuesdays, starting Feb. 2. Those needing help should bring their photo ID, W-2 forms and last year’s tax file, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays through April 12.

TASCA Thursday morning dance

Every Thursday, 10 a.m. to noon, the sounds of Willowridge Music cranks up for your Country and Western dancing pleasure at TASCA. Whether you enjoy a waltz, some boot scootin’ or just like to listen to the music, come join the folks at TASCA for a little daytime dancing. Admission is free for members and $1 for guests. TASCA is located at 10495 CR 2167 (Jim Russell Rd) in Whitehouse.

Library hours

Regular library hours for the Whitehouse Community Library are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., Fridays 11-5 and Saturdays 11- 3. Story time is on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Contact the library at 903-839-2949 for more information.

Regular hours for the Cameron-J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 1-5 p.m. Thursday 3-7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call the library at 903-842-3101 for more information.


Republic Services in Whitehouse picks up recycling on Wednesday. Recyclable items include paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans.

Troup has a self-service recycling receptacle. The Allied Waste Recycling bin is located at the corner of W. Bradford and N. Georgia.

School Activities

WH Athletic Boosters meet

The Whitehouse Athletic Booster Club will meet Monday, Feb. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the WHS commons area.

Government Activities

WH P & Z to meet

The City of Whitehouse Planning and Zoning commission is set to meet Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. in the City Hall break room.
