Weight loss support group meets Mondays
The Tyler Area Low Glycemic Weight Loss Support Group meets every Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 5111 Troup Highway, Suite 108 (corner of Shiloh and Troup Hwy.) in Tyler. Meetings are free. For more information, call 903-839-7634.
Karing Kitchen
The Karing Kitchen offers free hot meals to anyone in need on Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. The Karing Kitchen is sponsored by five Tyler Churches of Christ and is located at 420 W. Erwin in the fellowship building of West Erwin Church of Christ. For information, call 903-592-0809.
Sunday football games, free food, pool tourney
The American Legion Post #418 in Troup invites its members to come watch Sunday football games on television and enjoy free food, starting at 1 p.m. until its all gone. This Sunday, Dec. 18, the post will host a pool tournament Part of the proceeds from the event’s entry fee will go to a scholarship fund.
Christmas Concert Dec. 16
The Tyler Area American Band invites the public to come to its annual Christmas Concert on Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. at King’s Academy located at 714 Shelley Drive in Tyler. The concert is free. The band is a non-profit organization made up of homeschool, public, and private school students under the direction of professional band director Howard Galletly. ‘Come in Grace and Glory’ at Whitehouse UMC
The Whitehouse United Methodist Church choir will lead in a special service of worship on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. “This is not the typical Christmas musical, but an opportunity for all of God’s people to join together in meaningful praise as we celebrate the coming of God’s Son into the world. Everyone who attends will be an active participant rather than a passive listener. Please join us as we celebrate Jesus!” said Larry McCord, music director.
First Baptist Church Mixon Christmas program

Whitehouse Athletic Boosters will meet Monday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. at the WHS Commons Area.
WHS parent meeting on college finances
Whitehouse High School will have a Parent Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006 for College Financial Planning. On the morning of the 12th, Making College Count will be presented to all juniors and seniors. The same organization will be on the WHS campus that evening from 6:30 to 7:30 to make a presentation to parents regarding applying for and receiving college financial aid. This meeting will be held in the High School Auditorium.
