Hearing seeks on rules for barbers, cosmetologists
     The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) will conduct a public meeting in Tyler on Monday, Jan. 9, to solicit comments on a comprehensive revision of the rules regulating the cosmetology and barbering professions. The meeting will be at Tyler Junior College, 1327 South Baxter Avenue.

Revenue from sales tax continues to grow
     Some southeast Texas communities continue to see declines in their sales tax revenue as a result of Hurricane Rita, but overall state and local sales tax revenues are up significantly, according to figures submitted by the of fice of Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn.
