May Community Activities Fill the boot this Saturday Whitehouse Volunteer Fire Department firemen will be out in force on this Saturday, May 4, at Brookshire's in Whitehouse to "fill the boot" for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This drive will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Proceeds will be used to help send children with this disease to summer camps and for providing wheel chairs and other medical equipment to those MD victims who couldn't otherwise afford them. Third annual butterfly release May 20 The Compassionate Friends of Tyler 3rd Annual Live Butterfly Release will be held May 20, 2006 at First Baptist Church, South Campus (off FM 2813) beginning at 1 p.m. Live butterflies will be released in memory of all children. The Compassionate Friends is a support group for parents and families who have experienced the death of a child. ET genealogical society meets May 13 The East Texas Genealogical Society will hold it regular monthly meeting on Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m. at the Tyler Public Library in the Taylor Auditorium. Carol Taylor will present a program 18th and 19th century funeral practices. Approximately 30 minutes after the regular program and refreshments, the Computer Interest Group of the East Texas Genealogical Society will meet with Debbie Parker Wayne presenting a program on Computer Folder Customization. TGHS meeting on May 20 Troup Genealogical/Historical will meet Saturday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at the Troup library. James Garrett will present a program on Cornelius Green (the Tamale Man) and will display a replica of his tamale cart. The public is invited to attend. Henry Marsh Bell Lodge meeting on May 15 Henry Marsh Bell Lodge #1371 will meet Monday, May 15, at 7 p.m. at the lodge for the regular stated meeting. All Masonic brothers are welcome to attend. Hamburger Night is every Tuesday night at 6 p.m. Henry's Chapel Cemetery memorial service The annual memorial service at Henry's Chapel Cemetery is scheduled for Sunday, May 21, at 11 a.m., according to M. J. Florence, association chairman. The Rev. Tolbert Dill, pastor of Henry's Chapel, will speak at the service. Special music will be provided by the Don Gray family. Following the service, a covered dish luncheon will be enjoyed in the fellowship hall. Henry's Chapel is located six miles east of Troup on FM 13. Union Grove Cemetery Memorial Day service Union Grove Cemetery is having their annual Memorial Day Service May 28. The business meeting starts at 10:30 a.m., the worship service starts at 11 a.m., and lunch starts at noon. David B. Toole is chairperson.
