Girls team takes district crown, boys finish 3rd

The Whitehouse High School girls cross country team captured the title District 12-4A championship Thursday, Oct. 26 at the district meet in Jacksonville.

The boys team finished third, with Whitehouse senior Will Quinn earning first-place individual honors.

In the girls individual results, Natalie Holcomb took third place, Kami Cook fourth, Lydia Uribe seventh, Alex Barnes 16th, Ruby Carranza 23rd and Whitney Rankin 30th.

For the boys varsity, senior Oscar Vela placed 10th, senior Josh Holland 12th, junior Jordan Scott 16th, senior Michael Robinson 18th, freshman Timothy Priest 32nd and junior Travis Tincher 34th.

Both the boys and girls cross country teams advanced to regionals and will represent Whitehouse in Arlington Saturday, Nov. 4.

Team standings from the district competition were: girls, Whitehouse 53, Hallsville 64, Pine Tree 69 and Jacksvonville 96; boys, Nacogdoches 54, Pine Tree 56, Whitehouse 57, Jacksonville 83, Hallsville 120 and Kilgore 183.
