Electronic recycling Saturday Keep Tyler Beautiful will be offering e-cycling to the Tyler community for the second year in a row in celebration of Tyler Recycles Day on Saturday, Nov. 11. The theme for this year's annual event is "4 R Future" which stands for Reduce, Reuse, Recycle AND Rebuy. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the City of Tyler Recycling Collection Center, 418 N. Bois D'Arc Ave. "We collected more than 13,000 pounds of computers and other electronics at this event last year," said Susan Lucido, Keep Tyler Beautiful Tyler Recycles Day committee chair. "After that overwhelming response, we had to offer it again." Computer systems, keyboards, servers, power supply units, connectors, cables, wire, telephones, cell phones, video and audio equipment, circuit boards and computer cards will be accepted at no charge. Computer monitors, LCD flat screens and peripherals will cost $5 each to recycle while printers, fax machines and scanners will cost $1 each to recycle. Televisions cost $15 or $25 to recycle, depending on the size. Reuse Roundup will also be going on at the Tyler Recycling Collection Center on Nov. 11. Goodwill will be on hand to accept clothing, furniture, working appliances and electronics or anything else that is in good condition and reusable. People who bring items to be recycled or reused will receive free wildflower seeds, stickers and more. For more information call Kristi Boyett, City of Tyler special projects coordinator, at (903) 531-1348. |
