Senior banquet rescued
Civic league takes helm, seeks help +
BY SUZANNE LOUDAMY Staff writer

There is good news and bad news. Let's go with the bad news first. Thanksgiving and Christmas will come and go without the 24th Annual Whitehouse Area Senior Citizens' Christmas Banquet.

In the past, this popular event has been put together by several hard-working ladies dedicated to creating a special day for some special members of the Whitehouse community.

At some point, life gets the best of us all. This year is one of those times.

No plans were made for the banquet to take place this fall.

Now comes the good news.

Once the news of "no banquet" reached the ears of the Whitehouse Women's Civic League, they voted to take on the project.

"This is just the type of project our group should be involved with," said league president Cynthia Breckel. "But we'd like to have some help."

If you or your organization can assist the WWCL or make a donation, please contact Suzanne at 903-839-2353 or email at SuzanneTCL @yahoo.com.

With the news reaching the group so late in the year, the current plan is to give the event a Valentine theme and hold it in February 2007.
