Kay Jarvis
Graveside services for Kathlyn 'Kay' Hope Hines Jarvis, 85, Troup, were Wednesday, November 8, at the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup, with the Reverend Mike Cline officiating, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mrs. Jarvis died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006 in a Jacksonville hospital. She was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Normangee, Texas to the late James C. and Mabel Murff Hines.
She received her masters in education from Stephen F. Austin State University and taught school in Whitehouse and Troup for many years.
She married Max A. Jarvis, Jr. July 26, 1941 in Troup. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2006.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troup and the Friends of the Library for the Cameron-J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library, Troup.
She was a charter member of the Hilltop Country Club and the Hilltop Ladies Golf Association, Troup.
She was an avid golfer and bridge player, but her greatest love was cooking for her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving family, two sons and daughtersin law, Andy and Stacy Jarvis of Whitehouse, and Jim and Susan Jarvis of Troup; two granddaughters and their spouses, Stace and 1st. Sergeant Max Rasberry of Fort Polk, Louisiana, and Jenifer and Tre' Cheney of Whitehouse; a grandson Hunter Jarvis of College Station; five great-grandchildren, Jake, Josie, and Jim Rasberry, Max and Chloe Cheney; a brother and sister-in-law, James C. amd Birdie Hines of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews and many, many good friends.
