The Troup Tigers rebounded from last week's loss to Elysian Fields, taking out their vengeance on Timpson for a 57-22 stomping, and clinching the district 19-2A title.
Timpson came out strong, needing to win both final games for a shot at the playoffs. The Bears scored first on a 26-yard touchdown run and held the early lead, 6-0.
Troup struck back on its ensuing drive following an interception. Freshman Derrick Thompson made the first of two TD runs on the night. The Tigers were successful on a two-point conversion to go up 8-6
Timpson regained the lead briefly, and for the last time of the night, before Troup scored 28 unanswered points, including touchdown passes from QB Nick Harrison to Thacher Riddle and Reginald Wade.
The defense held the Bears scoreless for two quarters, and shut down the passing game, holding the Bears to just 20 yards in the air.
The Tigers end regular season play tomorrow at Garrison.
