Quilt raffle benefiting library, Susan G. Koman foundation

Mary Anne Coney and Shirley Mathis work on the Colors of Autumn quilt.
It is rare to see a newly created hand-made quilt in this day and time. It is even more rare to see one made through the handiwork of 83 individuals. That is what makes the "Colors of Autumn" quilt being made in Troup so very special.

Sponsored by Aunt Lillie's Antiques, this king-size quilt was pieced by Carol Wilson. Alice English, Martha Reneau and longtime Aunt Lillie's employee Shirley Mathis have been overseeing the quilt's completion.

This beautiful design has been stitched using an old-fashioned quilting frame suspended from the ceiling. This frame is on loan from Ms. Reneau of Arp. Folks from several states including New York and Ken-

tucky, as well as all over East Texas, had a hand in the quilting. The backing of the quilt is covered with fall leaves bearing the names of all who took part in the stitching.

Hundreds of hours have gone into completing this quilt that will be awarded to the winning raffle ticketholder on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Troup Municipal Library at 6 p.m. Along with the drawing, done by Santa himself, the library will host a Christmas Open House serving refreshments.

Tickets are $5 each or three for $10. They are available at Aunt Lillie's Antiques in Troup, Tri County Leader in Whitehouse and Troup Municipal Library.

All proceeds go to the Cameron-J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library and Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.
