Fall perfect time to ride Texas State Railroad
Trains scheduled to stop running Dec. 31
RUSK - Fall is here with the sky turning a deeper blue, complemented by a dash of white from passing clouds.
Between Rusk and Palestine runs the Texas State Railroad, the perfect mode of transportation to enjoy the East Texas countryside and its profusion of yellow, red and orange hues.
Texas State Railroad trains have been running steel on steel for 125 years.
This year is special as it appears this will be the last fall the railroad will run its locomotives through the woods and over the rolling hills and streams of this region of Texas.
Now is the time to ride this historic ribbon of rail before there is no longer an opportunity. Without funding the tradition of this venerable railroad will pass into history as it is scheduled to cease operating trains as of Dec. 31.
If you have never ridden on a train or you have wanted to recapture those fond memories of riding in times past, now is the time to plan a trip on the Texas State Railroad.
If you have children or grandchildren who have grown up hearing railroad stories or watching Thomas the Tank Engine, now is the time to bring them to ride on this vintage railroad.
