YMCA set for Reindeer Run

Tyler YMCA's Reindeer Run is scheduled for Dec. 2. The 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the YMCA at 225 S. Vine in Tyler. The course will meander through the downtown area of Tyler and end at the YMCA.

After the 5K, a fun run will be held for the younger ones.

Proceeds of the 5K assist the YMCA in offering scholarships that bring YMCA memberships and programs to those who cannot afford them.

Fun Run is free with a can food donation to the East Texas Food Bank. Awards will be given to overall

winners and in age divisions. Special awards will go to the best dressed "Christmas" runners.

With one of the YMCA's focuses being youth fitness, the elementary middle and high school with the most 5K participants will be awarded a plaque. The YMCA for the first time will have shirts available reading, "I ran my first 5K at the YMCA" honoring anyone's first attempt at the 5K distance.
