Nita Gill Buckner

OVERTON - Graveside services for Nita Gill Buckner, 83, Henderson, were held Nov. 15 at Rusk County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Devin LaBay officiating under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.

Mrs. Buckner died Nov. 12, in a Tyler hospital.

She was born June 29., 1923, in Haynesville, La., to William Henry and Lovie Barber Thomas. She moved from Haynesville, La., to Price and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1942. She moved to Mississippi in 1945 and returned to Overton in 1953. She owned and operated Nita's Beauty Lounge in Overton 26 years, retiring in 1984.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Jim Gill and Leonard Buckner; granddaughter; Shelly Kay Palmer; brother, McDee Thomas; sister-in-law, Bobbie Thomas Strickland.

Survivors include sons, Ronn Palmer, Tyler, and Tommy Palmer, Hood, Va.; stepsons, Tim Gill, Whitehouse, and Bob Buckner, Plano; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and two nieces.
