Election votes certified In a special called meeting, WISD trustees adopted an order canvassing the Nov. 7 bond election. Superintendent Dennis Miller told the board that a letter of certification had been received from Paula Patterson of Smith County verifying the votes as reported. The $15 million bond proposal to build a new elementary campus was approved by voters by a 34-vote margin. Miller noted that to his knowledge, this was the largest turnout ever for a Whitehouse school district election of any kind. Nearly 5,000 votes were cast. Brokerage and bond details will be worked out in the next 60 days as plans come together to get the project under way. |
