WJH hits the hardcourt

The Whitehouse 8th grade "A" team started off its basketball season this past week posting two wins in a home and home series with the Lufkin Panthers.

In the first game played last Thursday at C.L. Nix Gym, the Wildcats would jump out to a 30- 13 lead at the half and would coast to a 53-28 win.

The Wildcats would provide a balanced scoring attack led by Trey Metoyer with 12 points and was followed by Quincy Aldridge, Terrance Franklin, and Ryan Speake scoring eight points each.

Most recently, the Wildcats would travel to Lufkin on Monday night where they would get off to a rough start before pulling away to defeat the Panthers, 58-24.

Again, the Cats would have a balanced offensive attack as Aldridge would lead the way

with 15 points followed by Conner Cashion with 11 points and Metoyer with 10 points.

The Wildcats would see all nine team members get in the book as Shundrick Beasley would finish the night with 8 points, Franklin with five, Jake Potter would add four, Speake and Matt Durst would have twoeach, and Preston Conder would add one for the night.

In the "B" game at home last week, the Wildcats would fall to the Panthers 23-17. Devin Matthews, Jonathan Parker, and Ryan Ralson would all have three points each to lead the Wildcats. In the game Monday night, the Wildcats would again find it hard to get anything to fall and would lose to the Panthers, 18-7.

The Wildcats will return to action Nov. 30 when they will play host to Hallsville in the district opener.
