Troup Cares seeks donations

Troup Cares is accepting donations of food, money, and Christmas gifts to help provide a better Christmas for needy families in the Troup area.

Any individual or group that would like to provide a Troup area child with a better Christmas is encouraged to adopt a child from the Angel Tree which is located in the lobby of the Austin Bank, Troup.

The Troup Banking Center, the Troup branch of the Kilgore National Bank, will be also be collecting toys and accepting monetary donations on behalf of Troup Cares.

Donations of food may be made at the Troup Brookshire's store through the Spirit of Christmas food drive or Troup school students who are conducting food drives. Brookshire's grocery provides packing materials and a Christmas hen for each box of food. Last year, Troup Cares delivered

boxes of food to 127 persons and spent over $3,800 for groceries, clothing, and Christmas gifts.

Troup Cares has asked that area churches designate Sunday, Dec. 3, as Troup Cares Sunday and collect a special offering. Monetary donations may be made through your church or directly to the Troup Cares account at the Austin Bank location in Troup or at the Troup Banking Center.

For those wishing to donate Christmas gifts, various high school groups will also be gathering toys.

The Tri County Leader's subscription drive also benefits Troup Cares.

All donations of food and money are used to assist those in the Troup area. To avoid duplication of services, Troup Cares reviews each application for need and residency requirements and shares its list with other agencies, such as PATH.
