Whitehouse would pick up a dominating victory Tuesday night over T. K. Gorman at Wildcat Arena by the score of 86-43. With the win, the Wildcats moved their record to 3-1 early in the season.
The JV picked its second win of the season by defeating the Crusaders 68-29, and the freshman team also went 2-0 on the year with a 58- 47 win.
Last weekend the varsity Wildcats would split two games in the annual Burger King Classic at UT Tyler. In Friday's game, Whitehouse would take on Shreveport Southwood and would ride the hot hand of Cade Clark to post a convincing 76-50 victory.
Clark would finish the game with a high 32 points and would do most of his damage in the first half, as he would score 18 points leading the Wildcats to a 33-28 lead at the half.
The Wildcats would come out strong in the third quarter, as they would extend the lead to 59-42 at the end of the period. The third quarter surge would be led by Kyle Ford who would post nine points in the quarter (14 for the game) and Kye Heck who would have seven points.
The Wildcats would stay focused in the final period, as they would ex- tend the lead to a final of 76-50.
"Our defensive rebounding impressed me the most," stated Coach Wally Dawkins. "I thought Kye, Cade, Kody Molloy and Britt Martin did a great job on the boards. We held a plus 10 advantage overall, and when you do that, you usually have a chance to win," said Coach Dawkins.
In the Saturday game, the Wildcats would meet their match, as they would come up short to Robert E. Lee, 80-71. The Wildcats would trail by 13 to 15 points for most of the second half before making a late fourth quarter run to cut the lead to nine for the final score.
Clark would lead the Cats with 25 points, with 20 coming in the first half. The Red Raiders would keep Clark in check during the second half and would attack the glass to build a 17- point lead going into the fourth quarter.
However, the Wildcats would not go quietly as Marquis would lead the late charge hitting with 12 of his 21 points for the game in the final quarter.
The varsity will be back in action in the Lindale tournament starting today while the JV and freshmen will begin a tournament at John Tyler also starting today.
