First Ladies thankful for Dancing Dads
The Whitehouse First Ladies Drill Team have had much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season. They dance with healthy bodies, wear beautiful uniforms, and practice and perform in wonderful facilities. They also have a championship football team and many fans to entertain during this 2006 playoff season.
One of the things the First Ladies are most thankful for was the opportunity to dance with their dads during the last home football game. The First Ladies' officers choreographed a routine for this special occasion and
the Ladies each taught their dads, or a close friend, during the few weeks before the performance. Several combined rehearsals were held so the dads could perfect their moves with a final practice just before the game.
The night of the big performance, several "Dancing Dads" were found discussing the routine during the first and second quarters of the football game and asking each other what step came after certain moves. One dad was even seen in the stands reviewing the hand-written notes provided by his daughter!
The practice and review paid off when the Dads, dressed in their white dress shirts and starched jeans, proudly walked to the middle of the field to meet their daughters. When the music started, the Dads donned their sunglasses and moved to the beat of the Whitehouse High School Band.
The crowd seemed to be thankful for the "Dancing Dads" as they applauded loudly and rose to their feet at the end of the performance.
The First Ladies truly do have much to be thankful for... especially their "Dancing Dads!"
