Community Activities

Flu Shot Clinic Set in Troup

There will be a Flu Shot Clinic in Troup on Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Dr. Khoren Hekimian’s office located at 705 W Duval .Cost is $25. For info, call 903-842-3018.

Troup Christmas Parade set

The Troup Christmas Parade is set for Thursday, Dec. 7 beginning at 6 p.m. Visits with Santa and the tree lighting will follow the parade at the library.

Whitehouse Christmas Parade Saturday

The Whitehouse Christmas Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. Following the parade everyone is invited to the park to help decorate the community Christmas tree, visit with Santa and enjoy music of the season.

Henry Marsh Bell Lodge meeting

Henry Marsh Bell Masonic Lodge will meet Monday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Lodge Hall.

Retired school personnel meet for program

Smith County Retired School Personnel Association will have their Christmas program presented by Texas College choir on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. The group meets at Plyler Instructional Complex, 807 W. Glenwood, Tyler.

Troup American Legion to meet

Troup American Legion Post #418 will meet Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Legion Hall.

Troup VFW meeting

Troup VFW will meet Thursday, Dec.14 at 7 p.m. at the Troup Library.

Project Joy collections continue

Whitehouse schools, churches and organizations continue collecting money and non-perishable can goods for Project Joy. If you would like to help and want to know how contact Ray Baldwin at Tyler Metro Church.

Whitehouse library activities

The Whitehouse Library offers these activities: Story time is on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and scrapbooking nights are the third Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Come visit the library! The website for the Whitehouse Community Library’s Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is http:// whitehousetx.booksys.net. Once the site loads, click on “display” to see the search screen.

Karing Kitchen

The Karing Kitchen offers free hot meals to anyone in need on Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. The Karing Kitchen is sponsored by five Tyler Churches of Christ and is located at 420 W. Erwin in the fellowship building of West Erwin Church of Christ. For information, call 903-592-0809.

Weight loss support group meets Mondays

The Tyler Area Low Glycemic Weight Loss Support Group meets every Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at 5111 Troup Hwy., Ste. 108 (corner of Shiloh and Troup Highway) in Tyler. Meetings are free. For more information, call 903-839-7634.

Church Related Activities

FBC youth present musical

The youth choir and drama group of the First Baptist Church of Whitehouse proudly presents “Twas The Last Mailing Day Before Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the church office.

First UMC Children’s musical scheduled

The children’s Christmas musical performance, “Jesus, Light of the World” will be presented Sunday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.

School Related Activities

Troup MS hosts supper

The Troup Middle School 8th grade class will be hosting a Baked Potato Supper on Monday, Dec. 18 from 4:30-6:00 pm in the high school cafeteria. Immediately following the dinner will be the Troup Middle School and High School band concerts. Proceeds from the dinner will go toward the 8th grade trip to Galveston.

Troup schools performances set

The Troup High School theatre and elementary music departments present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” Evening performance is set for Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Troup HS auditorium. Box office opens one hour before the show with admission $4 for adults and $2 for students.

Troup trustees to meet

Troup ISD trustees meet Monday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina.

Troup City Council meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Troup City Council is scheduled 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. The meeting will be held at the Troup ISD Administration Office at 201 N. Carolina.
