Library patrons can exchange ‘food for fines’

If you owe fines at the Whitehouse Community Library, the library has a deal for you.

The Whitehouse Community Library is running its annual “Food for Fines” program during the month of December. This annual program allows library patrons who owe large or even small fines to have their slates cleared for the new year and help others during this holiday season.

Patrons are asked to bring non-perishable food items to the library in an amount equivalent to their fine amount or even more.

“We ask that patrons be generous since this food will be given to the Food Bank,” says Sandra Knackstedt, library director.
