Tyler expecting ‘White Christmas’ Pull on your snowboots and don your winter coats because this holiday season more than 1,000 square feet of snow will blanket Bergfeld Park for the City of Tyler’s two-day Holiday in the Park celebration Dec. 8-9. “We wanted to do something that our citizens would enjoy and always remember,” Tyler Parks and Recreation Manager John Webb said. “How often do you see snow in Tyler, Texas? This is something these kids can tell their grandchildren about.” Festivities will include a two-lane snowcovered tubing hill as well as a 1,000- square-foot snow play area. The tubing hill and snow area will be open from 4-8 p.m. on Dec. 8 and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 9. Other holiday fun will include performances by local dance groups, musicians and choirs from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 9 in the Bergfeld amphitheatre. Then you can snuggle up with your family as the celebration concludes with a special screening of the holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life” beginning at 6 p.m. on Dec. 9. The snow play, movie and performances are free of charge and open to the public. Concessions will be available. Bergfeld Park is located at 4th Street and Broadway Avenue in Tyler.
