Area parades ready to roll

Santa’s helpers are out in force this week preparing for his arrival in Troup and Whitehouse. Justin Champion from the City of Whitehouse puts on a fresh coat of paint to ready Santa’s house for Saturday’s visit to City Park.
Santa will be busy this week in East Texas. His first stop is set for the annual Christmas parade in Troup on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.

This night-time parade will begin at Brookshire’s and travel down Hwy. 110 to Georgia Street then turn right ending at the library. Santa will wrap up the parade and meet with children at the library. Tree lighting will follow.

The Whitehouse Christmas parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9 beginning at 10 a.m. It is sponsored by the Greater Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce.

Several businesses, organizations, church and school groups will pave the way for Santa. Topping the list of entries will be the Wildcat football team.

This will be a great opportunity for the city to show their pride and thanks to the Wildcat team and coaching staff for their hard work resulting in the Area Championship.

The parade will enter State Hwy. 110 at the junior high driveway and proceed south to FM 346 where it will turn east to the park and disband near the library.

Following the parade, everyone is encouraged to come to the City park to decorate the community Christmas tree. The Whitehouse Women’s Civic League will have tables set up for children to make decorations for the lighted tree.

Santa will also be in the park checking in with the children and hearing their lists.
