Students in the Whitehouse High School Drawing II, Drawing III, Pre AP Art and AP Art classes recently competed in the Graphics Arts and Photography Department Portfolio competition at Tyler Junior College. The contest was open to all area high school juniors and seniors. Students were invited to submit individual pieces and portfolio pieces in illustration, logo design, brochures, letterhead, advertising design and photography.

The students toured the TJC campus and were given an opportunity to work with the graphics computers and treated to a luncheon with speakers from the illustration and advertising fields.

Capping off the day was an announcement of the winners.

Tyler Spitzmiller took first place in Business Logo Print Design, and Cory Terre earned Best of Show in Print Advertising.

Other Whitehouse students earning honors were: Jon Harvell, third in Print Design-Wearables; Spitzmiller, third in Print-Package Design and second in Advertising Consumer Retail; Salomon Ortiz, second in Book Illustration; Courtney Musgrove, second in Photography Advertising; and Leslie Craig, second in Retail Print Advertising.
