Troup junior high squads report results

The seventh-grade Tigers played well, winning their Monday night matchup with Tatum.
The Tiger eighth-grade team has played four tough games, not yet recording their first win.

The season kicked off Nov. 16 against Tatum, with the Eagles dominating 42-20.

Troup fared better on Nov. 20, fighting a close match with Arp before falling 54-47.

The Tigers were paced by Patrick Alonzo’s 18 points, Keondre Davis with 13, Ryan Nichols 8, Jamal Martin 6 and Caleb Gibson 2.

Troup again played well, but lost by a slim 2 points to West Rusk on Nov. 27.

Davis led Tiger scorers with 13 points.

Others contributing were Alonzo with 12, Nichols 10, Martin 2 and Gibson 2.

The Tigers had a rematch with Tatum Monday, Dec. 4, and were able to revenge some of the sting of the first-game trouncing.

In the 67-59 losing effort, Davis poured in 32 points, followed by Alonzo with 10, Nichols 8, Gibson 4, Ethan Isaccks 2, Jared Underwood 2 and Martin 1.

The seventh- and eighthgrade Lady Tigers were in action Monday, Nov. 27 against West Rusk.

The seventh-graders won convincingly, 22-4. Karaveon Rodgers led scoring, and Taylor Martin played outstanding defense, said Coach Lori Burke.

The eighth-graders also celebrated a 32-17 victory.

Offensively, Lauren Fite and Cailyn Wilkie paced the Lady Tigers with 10 and 7 points respectively.

On the defensive side, Haley Martin played her usual tough, aggressive game, said Burke.
