Mary Louise Hairston

Graveside Services for Mary Louise Wilson Hairston, 95, Athens, were 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens, with the Rev. Dr. Kyle Henderson officiating, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.

Mrs. Hairston died Sunday, Dec. 10 in a Troup nursing home. She was born March 30, 1911 in Troup to the late Sid and Myrtie Smith Wilson.

She graduated from high school in Tyler and married Leo Hairston in 1935. They moved to Athens, where they owned and operated Hairston Book Store from 1938 until 1972. Following their retirement, Louise and Leo enjoyed traveling around the world. Louise was a gracious hostess, talented business woman, and supporter of her community and church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Athens.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leo Hairston, and a sister, Marie Burns.

She is survived by her niece, Dianne Jones, Houston.
