Jeremy Priest earns Eagle Scout honors

Jeremy Priest
Jeremy Priest of Whitehouse has earned the Boy Scout of America’s highest rank of Eagle and will be presented his award at a Court of Honor to be held 2 p.m. Dec. 17 at Whitehouse United Methodist Church. Jeremy is a senior at Whitehouse High School.

Jeremy joined scouting in first grade as a Tiger Scout. His den leaders were Sherri Priest and Susan Robinson. He advanced through all the cub scouts ranks: Wolf, Bear, Webelos and earned the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub scouting.

Jeremy bridged over to Troop 359 in February 2000 in fifth grade. Jeremy fulfilled the requirements of leadership, service and mastered the skills to advance through each rank: Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and Eagle. His scoutmasters included Kent Davis, Randy Heasley, Gary Priest and Charles Parker.

Jeremy earned 32 Merit badges and was elected to Order of the Arrow in 2002. His leadership positions within the Troop included patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, and troop guide. He attended Junior Leader Training and earned his BSA Lifeguard in 2004. He served as a den chief for Cub Pack 359 for four years.

Jeremy joined Venture Crew 359 in December 2004 and serves as the crew treasurer. Jeremy has camped over 100 nights with the troop and crew including longterm winter and summer camps at Camp Pirtle in East Texas and Camp Orr in Arkansas. He participated in the Mountain Man High Adventure program at Buffalo Trails Scout Ranch in West Texas in June 2003, and he attended a Venture Crew Caving trip to Boxwell and Parrish Scout Reservations in Tennessee in July 2006.

Jeremy’s Eagle Scout project was designing and construction of a Rifle Range at Camp Tyler. Camp Tyler annually hosts diabetes camps, Boy Scout merit badge classes, The Kiwanis Turkey Shoot and others who utilize this rifle range. This Eagle service project took over 200 service hours to complete.

Jeremy would like to thank all the adult volunteers in Boy Scouting that have helped him to achieve this rank, including those who helped with his Eagle scout project, and to Quality Lumber and Contractor’s Supply for their donation of materials and concrete.
