Lady Cats go 2-2 at ET Shootout The Lady Cat varsity basketball team recently competed in the annual East Texas Shootout in Brownsboro last weekend. The Lady Cats played four games going 2-2 for the tournament. In Thursday’s opener, the Lady Cats defeated Eustace 45-21. Caroline Perrier led a balance scoring attack with 8 points followed by Kayla Mason, Alicia Cordova, and Brittani Toole with 6 each. Cordova would also have 11 rebounds while Ericka Taylor had 8 boards. In Friday’s action, the Lady Cats would have a big second half to defeat host Brownsboro 50-45. The Lady Cats would outscore Brownsboro 17-6 in the third quarter to surge ahead. Cordova would lead all scorers with 16 while Mason added 13, and Toole had 7 points along with 7 rebounds. In the second game on Friday, the Lady Cats would see a defensive collapse in the second quarter against Nor th Lamar which cost them the game, 57-47. North Lamar would go on a 25-9 run in the second quarter and then hang on in the second half for the win. Toole, Cordova, and Mason would carry most of the scoring load with 17, 10, and 10 points, respectively. In Saturday’s matchup, the Lady Cats would put up a good fight but would come up short to a very talented Crockett team with a score of 60-43. Cordova would have 13 points and 11 rebounds while Perrier would heat up from the outside to hit for 13 points. |
