East Texas Writers Guild to meet

The East Texas Writers Guild will meet Monday, Jan. 4, at The Texas Store in Bullard. The business meeting is at 6:30 p.m. and the program will start at 7:00 p.m. Speaker Lynda Trent will discuss “Choosing Your Characters Names... It Is a Very Big Deal!” ETWG meetings are open to published and aspiring writers of every genre on the first Monday of every month except on holidays when meetings will be on the second Monday. The Texas Store is located at 51559 Highway 69 in Bullard. From Tyler, take 69 south approximately 10 miles from Wal-Mart; proceed 1 mile past FM 344. The Texas Store is on the right. From Jacksonville, go north on 69 approximately 14 miles. The Texas Store will be on the left side of the road.

Tyler Aggie Moms Club meets

Tyler Aggie Moms Club will present the Texas A&M Singing Cadets at First Baptist Church in Tyler on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at Austin Bank (Old Bullard Rd), Elaine’s Dress Shop in Jacksonville, Elliott’s Pharmacy in Hideaway, and the Lindale Main & Shipping House, First Baptist Church in Tyler and from any member of the Tyler Aggie Moms Club. This is a major fundraiser for student scholarships.

Whitehouse library activities

The Whitehouse Library offers these activities: Story time is on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and scrapbooking nights are the third Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Come visit the library!

Game Time for seniors

Game Time for senior citizens will be Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 1-3 p.m. at the Troup library. All senior citizens are welcome to attend.

Weight loss support group meets Mondays

The Tyler Area Low Glycemic Weight Loss Support Group meets every Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at 5111 Troup Hwy., Ste. 108 (corner of Shiloh and Troup Highway) in Tyler. Meetings are free. For more information, call 903-839-7634.

Karing Kitchen

The Karing Kitchen offers free hot meals to anyone in need on Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. The Karing Kitchen is sponsored by five Tyler Churches of Christ and is located at 420 W. Erwin in the fellowship building of West Erwin Church of Christ. For information, call 903-592-0809.
