Vietnam Veterans of America to meet

VFW Post 1799 open daily

VFW Post 1799 on Rhone Quarter Road opens daily at 2:30 p.m. for members and guests. Each day offers a different activity such as competitive pool, karaoke and social hour. For information visit WWW.vfw1799.org or call 903-561-3501.

Whitehouse Recycle Center hours

The Whitehouse Recycle Center is open every Wednesday 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Whitehouse library activities

Sail Away With Books, the Texas Summer Reading Club, meets every Wednesday at the Whitehouse Community Library. Sailors, age 3-6, meet 9:30-10:15 a.m. First Mates, age 7- 10, meet 10:30-11:15 a.m. Captains, age 11-14, meet 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Weight loss support group meets Mondays

The Eat Right For Life Support Group meets every Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Regions Bank in Whitehouse (across from the Post Office). Meetings are free. For more information, call 903-839-7634.

Karing Kitchen

The Karing Kitchen offers free hot meals to anyone in need on Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. The Karing Kitchen is sponsored by five Tyler Churches of Christ and is located at 420 W. Erwin in the fellowship building of West Erwin Church of Christ. For information, call 903-592-0809.

Troup American Legion hosts karaoke

Troup American Legion Post 418 has karaoke every Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Church Related Activities

VBS and Gospel meeting set in Troup

The Church of Christ in Troup will host a gospel meeting on July 12-13 at 7 p.m. The speaker each night will be Mike Warner, a well-known Tyler minister. "Jesus and Me" will be the topic of his series of lessons. Super Saturday (VBS) will follow on July 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and lunch is included.

Soak Up the Son

Kids, come Soak Up the Son at Ambassador Baptist Church on Friday, July 13 6-8 p.m., Saturday, July 14 2-4 p.m. and Sunday, July 15 at 10 a.m. Skits, games water play, food and of course Sponge Bob will fill hours of fun.

Whitehouse UMC hosts breakfast

The First United Methodist Church of Whitehouse hosts breakfast the first Saturday of the month from 8-10 a.m. A full breakfast meal is served and donations are accepted. The church is located at 405 W. Main.

Pleasant Hill plans retirement reception

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will host a farewell reception for Glenn Bilberry, child development center director, on July 29 in the activity center.
