Layton, Southerland marry

Mrs. Daniel Alan Southerland
Sarah Le'Anne Layton of Whitehouse and Daniel Alan Southerland of Canton were united in marriage on Jan. 6 at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler. Officiant was David Southerland of Canton, father of the groom. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Layton III of Whitehouse, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Layton Jr. of Tyler and Zelma Rigby and the late Mr. Marshall Rigby of Fort Worth. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Southerland of Canton, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Southerland of Canton and Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Cook of Mesquite.

A 2001 graduate of Whitehouse High School, the bride earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler. She was employed in Tyler by Lincoln Investment Planning, Inc. and will work in the Dallas area.

A 2001 graduate of Canton High School, the groom earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Baylor University. Having served as Director of Bands for Frankston ISD in the spring of 2006, Mr. Southerland currently is the associate director of bands for McMath Middle School in Denton. Le'Anne and Daniel met when both were members of the Baylor University Golden Wave Band and were members of Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi, respectively.

During the double-ring ceremony, Nathan Southerland led the congregation in worship songs, and scripture was read by Carrie Flemming and Robbie Layton. Music was provided by the Baylor University Brass Quintet. The ceremony was followed by a dinner reception held at the Tyler Area Senior Citizen Association Center with entertainment by D.J. Dave Goldman.

Maid of honor was Alice Cates of Whitehouse, lifetime friend. Honorary matron of honor was Marsha Layton of Whitehouse, mother of the bride. Best man was Cameron Witte of Dallas, college friend of the groom and cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids included Carrie Flemming of Anderson, S.C., sister of the groom; Sarah Cassidy of Fort Worth, cousin of the bride; Lindsey Witte of Dallas, cousin of the bride; Paige Cates of Tyler, family friend; Bethany Loudamy of Whitehouse, lifetime friend; Shawna Patchin of Fort Worth, college friend; Jennifer Ring of Waco, college friend; and Regina DeBrosse-Rodriguez of Miami, Fla., college friend.

Groomsmen included Nathan Southerland of Austin, brother of the groom; Robbie Layton of Vail, Colo., brother of the bride; Erik Flemming of Anderson, S.C., brother-in-law of the groom; Zach Taliaferro of Forney, friend of the groom; Adam Kirby of Mesquite, cousin of the groom; Jonathan Rees of Austin, college friend; and Tyler Neel of Canton, friend of the groom.

Junior bridesmaid was Rebecca Crim, and junior groomsmen included James Crim and Jonathan Crim, all of Lake Jackson and family friends. Ringbearer was Madi Brazeal of Tyler, family friend. Flowergirls were Emma Anderson of Tyler, cousin of the bride, and Cara Flemming of Anderson, S.C., niece of the groom.

Members of the house party included Amy Anderson of Tyler, cousin of the bride; Laura Kirby of Mesquite, cousin of the groom; Angela Roe of Manvel, cousin of the groom; and Kristi Thomas of Allen, cousin of the groom. Ushers included C.J. Anderson of Tyler, cousin of the bride; Jeremy Anderson of Plano, cousin of the bride; Erik Thomas of Allen, cousin of the groom; and Matthew Cates of Tyler, family friend.

After honeymooning in Hawaii, the couple will reside in Lewisville.
