Troup girls defeat Arp

Troup got back on the winning track Tuesday, notching a 50-41 road win over Arp and improving the district record to 6-2.

"I am extremely proud of how well the girls are playing," said Coach Cherry Downs. "This is a great group of athletes; they listen well, work hard, and play as a team.

"Their dedication has been beneficial throughout district and we plan for it continue the rest of district and throughout the playoffs."

Janna Ross led her team with 21 points, followed by Abby Darden with 10 and Alysha Barton 6.

The Arp win followed last Friday's loss to Garrison, where the Lady Tigers struggled at the free-throw line (8-of-17) in the 37-28 loss.

Ross again paced the Lady Tigers with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Shunacee Stewart contributed 6 points and 5 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers face Waskom at home on Friday.
