Lady Cats defeat Grace

With thoughts of Winter Formal in the back of their minds, the Whitehouse Lady Cats braved the cold weather on Thursday, Jan. 11 to play the Grace High School soccer team.

Whitehouse pounded the goal with 18 shots during the first half, but none found the mark. The Grace Lady Cougars had only one shot on the Whitehouse goal, which goalkeeper Melissa Camp stopped and quickly sent back to the other end of the field.

The second half of the game saw many changes with rough play escalating, and Whitehouse was called for a penalty in the box. The kick was taken by Grace's sweeper, Kristin Bjork. She put the kick into the goal, giving Grace the early lead, 1-0.

Although Grace celebrated the advantage, it did not last for long. One of the Grace team members was also called for a penalty in the box. Brittany Millican, Whitehouse sweeper, blasted the ball in the back of the net, tying the game.

Members of the varsity soccer squad are Ashley Andrews, Jasmine Azghani, Giselle Bryce, Melissa Camp, Candace Campsey, Jordan Cogburn, Elise Dollahite, Kelli Hill, Jordan Jackson, Heather Lofties, Kayla Mason, Brittany Millican, Elissa Parker, Misty Preast, Chelsea Primo, Lindsay Pritchard and Julie Wolverton. Head coach is Brad Jones.

This score was just the beginning of many more goals for the Lady Cats. Lindsay Pritchard scored from a throwin, giving Whitehouse the lead, 2-1. The Lady Cats continued their fancy footwork with Heather Lofties crossing the ball to Candace Campsey with a header into the goal.

Near the end of the game Lofties also assisted Pritchard to score her second goal of the day.

With a final score of 4-1, the Lady Cats recorded their third scrimmage win for this season.
