Parkinsonians of East Texas meeting

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. at East Texas Medical Center Pavilion, 801 Clinic Dr., Tyler. The program will include split group discussions with patients and caregivers. Parking is free for the meeting.

Friday deadline for band entry

Deadline for entries in the upcoming Battle of Bands is Friday, Jan. 26. There is a $25 entry fee for all bands that are accepted into the competition. The first Battle of the Bands, hosted by Ambassador Baptist Church, is scheduled for Feb. 24. Call 903-839-7398 for information.

WH Baseball/Softball league meets Sunday

The Whitehouse Baseball/Softball League will meet on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at the ballpark, just off FM 346 East. The meeting is open to all current coaches and anyone interested in coaching or working with the league.

Blood Drive Monday

East Texans unite for life through a blood drive Monday, Jan. 29 from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym at Whitehouse High School. Stewart Regional Blood Center reminds you to eat prior to donating and bring your driver's license.

ET Writers Guild to meet

The East Texas Writers Guild will meet Monday, Feb. 5, at The Texas Store in Bullard. The business meeting is at 6:30 p.m. and the program will start at 7 p.m. Speaker Vincent Alexandria will discuss "Setting Up Your Story in 30 Minutes or Less". ETWG meetings are open to published and aspiring writers of every genre on the first Monday of every month except on holidays when meetings will be on the second Monday. The Texas Store is located at 51559 Highway 69 in Bullard. From Tyler, take 69 S approximately 10 miles from Wal- Mart; proceed 1 mile past FM 344. The Texas Store is on the right. From Jacksonville, go north on 69 approximately 14 miles. The Texas Store will be on the left side of the road.

Whitehouse Recycle Center hours

The Whitehouse Recycle Center is open every Wednesday 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Whitehouse library activities

The Whitehouse Library offers these activities: Story time is on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and scrapbooking nights are the third Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Come visit the library!

Weight loss support group meets Mondays

The Tyler Area Low Glycemic Weight Loss Support Group meets every Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at 5111 Troup Hwy., Ste. 108 (corner of Shiloh and Troup Highway) in Tyler. Meetings are free. For more information, call 903-839-7634.

Karing Kitchen

The Karing Kitchen offers free hot meals to anyone in need on Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. The Karing Kitchen is sponsored by five Tyler Churches of Christ and is located at 420 W. Erwin in the fellowship building of West Erwin Church of Christ. For information, call 903-592-0809.
