Committee makes plans for 25th year The calendar says January, but June is not far away in the minds of the committee that works year-round on YesterYear. This year has a real silver lining. It is the 25th anniversar y of the hometown celebration. While many things have changed, many remain the same for the summer event that recognizes and celebrates the heritage of Whitehouse and the surrounding communities. Recognizing Mr. and Mrs. YesterYear is a time-honored tradition that continues. Former Mr. and Mrs. YesterYear honorees include: 1984 Clara Phelps 1985 Margie Pond 1986 J.W. and Lorea Conner 1987 Doug and Mozelle Brown 1988 Lois Pike 1989 Elizabeth Hearon 1990 Dillon and Mayme Hamilton 1991 Hiram and Christine Wiegman 1992 James and Marcie Williams 1993 Harold and Doris Higgins 1994 Shirley Smith 1995 James and Nancy Coats 1996 Gene and Evelyn Tomlin 1997 J.L. and Frances Hayes 1998 Ray and Nancy Terry 1999 Lawrence and Juanita Smith 2000 Georgia Brown 2001 Glendal and Mary Pike 2002 Elmer and Nelda Stanley 2003 Richard and Judy Waller 2004 Bob and Juanita Hagan 2005 Acker and Bobbie Hanks 2006 Robert and Delois Pettigrew For 2007, individuals and organizations are invited to nominate someone who has made a contribution to the community and is deserving of recognition. The nomination may be for a couple or an individual. Mr. and Mrs. YesterYear will be honored with a tea that is open to the community. They will be guests and recognized at the annual Coronation and Ball, June 16, and the Review, June 22, at Whitehouse High School. On Saturday, June 23, they will be given a place of honor in the annual parade and will be introduced during the festivities in the Whitehouse City Park. To nominate a deserving person or couple, mail your nominations to YesterYear, P.O. Box 1574, Whitehouse, TX 75791. Please include the address and telephone number of your nominees. Also include your contact information as well as a description of their contributions and why you nominated them. Deadline for receiving nominations is Jan. 31. |
