Members of the Whitehouse High School choir recently competed in the final round of the TMEA All-State Choir Contest. Finishing with a place in an All-State Choir were Maurice Laperriere, Raven Minter and Heath Mayo.
Maurice and Raven placed in the TMEA All-State Men's Choir, and Heath placed in the TMEA All-State Mixed Choir.
This is a very big accomplishment and honor for these young men, considering that only 28 men out of the whole state of Texas are chosen for each section of the choirs.
The third-round process begins in September with thousands of auditioners around the state and finishes with only 140 total competing for the 28 slots of each section.
The three Whitehouse allstaters will travel to San Antonio in February to attend and perform for thousands of choral directors and family mem- bers from around the state at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention.
They are under the direction of Amy McMichael, who is proud and honored to teach these talented young men.
" I am always so amazed and impressed with the talent I find here in Whitehouse," said McMichael. "I am especially proud of the fact that of all the schools in our region, Whitehouse placed the most students in the All-State Choir."
