Helen Herrin ARP - Services for Helen E. Herrin, 87, Arp, were held Jan. 30 at Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr: Ran Klingsick officiating. Burial was in Mason Cemetery, Arp, under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mrs. Herrin died Jan. 28, 2007, in a Longview hospital. She was born April 13, 1919, in Flint to the late Sam H. and Leta Armstrong Phillips. She attended Flint school and then attended Tyler Junior College, Stephen F Austin State University and Texas Eastern University. She retired in 1987 as a schoolteacher from Arp Independent School District, was a member and Sunday school- teacher at Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, and had served as president of Arp Chamber of Commerce and on board of trustees of Arp 1SD. She was preceded in death by her husband, FO. "Joe Bob" Herrin; granddaughter, Kathy McDougal Tuttle; brother, R. L. Phillips; and sisters, Hazel Hendrix and Billie Phillips. Sur vivors include sons, Jerry Herrin, Grapevine, and Terry Herrin, Palestine; daughters, Joy Savage, Longview, Linda Bundick, Tyler, and Carolyn McDougal, Troup; sisters, Dorothy Weathers, Troup, and Wilma Mayo, Fort Worth; 13 grandchildren; and 22 greatgrandchildren.
