One-act play 'Livin' de Life' presented Tuesday

"Livin' de Life" will be presented 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the high school auditorium by the Whitehouse Junior High Theater classes. Desserts will be served in the high school commons area following the show.

This comedy lasts only 40 minutes but is full of many great moments of laughter for all ages.

The play, written by Ed Graczyk, tells the story of Brer Rabbit, played by Ross Viergever, who is constantly tricking and scampering to escape capture by Brer Bear, played by Ryan Ralson, and Brer Fox, played by Matt Lockwood.

Brer Rabbit seeks a cure from "the mopes" from Aunt Mammy-Bammy, played by Madison Melrose, just in time for the Hooten' Hollerin' Dance Contest, which features Sis Buzzard, played by Jacqueline Yost, and other characters from the Briar Patch.

Additional cast members include Brer Tarrypin (Kaleb Bass), Brer Coon (Cassidy Parker), Miss Meadows (Kayte Fr ye), and Miss Goose (Caroline Walton).

Outstanding crew members are Daniel Lara, Blake Bevill, Jonathan Parker and Anisha Upponi. Alternates are Allie Callaway, Kate Ray, Rachel Garlitz and Keaton Stainback.

The play is directed by Tawana Blair and won second place in the UIL District 12 AAAA play contest.

The community is invited to attend the performance and enjoy desserts as they visit with cast and crew members. Admission is $3, with tickets sold at the door.
