Berman to chair Elections Committee

AUSTIN -- Speaker Tom Craddick (R-Midland) has named Rep. Leo Berman (RTyler) chairman of the Elections Committee and appointed him to the Government Reform Committee.

"I'm very privileged to be a part of the leadership of the Texas House of Representatives," said Rep. Berman. "This is a definite advantage for Dis- trict 6 and will help me accomplish legislative and budget needs that are favorable to my constituents and to the State of Texas."

The Elections Committee has jurisdiction over all elections, changes to the Election Code and campaign finance. It also oversees the Office of the Secretar y of State and the Texas Ethics Commission.
