Girls open with soccer wins The temperature was cool at Bruce field in Athens on Tuesday night. The Lady Cats dominated the Lady Hornets with play in and near the goal in the first half. The defense kept the field short by pulling up into the Athens 45 yard line. The first score of the game was made by Elyssa Parker with a header off a corner kick by Heather Lofties. The second half saw Lindsay Pritchard score a goal with an assist by Elise Dollahite. Melissa Camp kept the shutout alive by stopping a PK kick near the end of the game. The 2-0 victory gave Whitehouse its first district win and notched a 6-2 overall record. Looking for a second district win, the Lady Cats hosted the Lindale Lady Eagles in Wildcat stadium on Friday night. Whitehouse had many parents and students in attendance to cheer the girls on. The clock had ticked down to 39 minutes left in the first half when Candace Campsey scored the first goal of the game,ssisted by Julie Woolverton. Pritchard scored the next goal with an assist by Lofties. With just seconds left on the clock, Parker took the ball and headed down the field to score the third and final goal of the first half unassisted. The second half was scoreless; thanks to the wonderful defense of Jordon Jackson, Giselle Bryce, Brittany Millican and Camp the girls earned another shutout, winning 3-0 and going 7- 2 on the season. |
