Troup girls JV ends season

The junior varsity Lady Tigers finished up a difficult season with back-to-back losses to Timpson and Garrison.

The JV finished 2-8 in district play and 3-10 on their season.

The Lady Tigers fell Tuesday night 29-18 against the Lady Bulldogs. On Friday, they lost a close game to Timpson, 16-14.

This season Troup was led by sophomore captains Maegan Knuckles and Amber Pike.

From her post position, Knuckles led the team with 52 points and 43 rebounds for the season. At point guard, Pike contributed 23 points, 21 assists, and 15 rebounds.

Stats for the rest of the team members are as follows: LaTerrian Jimison - 13 points and 15 rebounds Angela Frieda - 22 points and 15 rebounds Wanda Salinas - 23 points and 18 rebounds Anastasia Villalobos - 36 points and 11 rebounds Carolanne Martin - 15 points and 15 rebounds Maricarmen Salinas - 30 points and 25 rebounds

Ashley Caldwell - 12 points and 15 rebounds

"We really improved our shooting and passing in the last few games. We hustled and played good defense for most of the season, but our offensive attack really struggled in the beginning and it was hard for us to score points," said Coach Jana McGoldrick. "I am proud of them for not giving up in any of our games, no matter the score."
