Boys soccer competes in PT tourney WH 1, Mount Pleasant 2 Whitehouse got on the board first with 20:32 left in the first half when Marco Hernandez made a fast break down the right side of the field beating three defenders and blistering a shot pass the Mount Pleasant keeper for the 1- 0 lead. Mount Pleasant tied the score with 10:22 left to play. Neither team was able to score in the second half, forcing a Texas shootout with each team having five players take a shot. Both teams scored one goal, with Daniel Peek successful for the Cats. Still tied, the teams entered sudden death. Hernandez missed his shot, while his opponent connected giving Mount Pleasant the win. WH 3, Center 0 Troy Coffee received the ball at mid field and was able to race past center defense and put off a shot past the center keeper for the 1-0 lead with 20:58 reamining in the half. Julio Alleman started the scoring in the second half, receiving a ball off the center keeper that was shot from Hernandez to make it 2-0. The next goal was a beauty when Peek found a wide open Colton Strother 20 yards atop the goal. Strother delivered a rocket blasting the upper corner of the net for the final score of the game. WH 3, Palestine 1 After playing in the morning, the Cats came out sluggish but still scored first when Alleman passed to Hernandez who sent the ball past the Palestine keeper, securing a 1-0 halftime lead. The teams then traded goals, with Tanner Hays connecting for Whitehouse first. Palestine's goal fired up the Cats, and Coffee returned the favor when he found Hays on the left side of the goal box. Hays struck a low shot that found the outside post and went in, earning the consolation championship. |
