Adopt-A-Beach art contest under way

AUSTIN - Jerry Patterson, Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, is calling on Texas students to participate in the 11th annual Adopt-ABeach "Treasures of the Texas Coast" Children's Art Contest. The deadline to submit artwork is Friday, March 2.

Open to students in grades K-6 across Texas, the contest motivates thousands of young artists each year.

Any medium may be used, but artwork may not be computer generated. Three-dimensional art is ineligible. Artwork should be based on the theme, "Treasures of the Texas Coast" and show why the Texas coast is special to the student. Artwork also must incorporate the Adopt-A-Beach slogan, "Trashing Texas Beaches Isn't Cool."

One entry per student is allowed, and all entries must have a completed parental release form taped to the back. Forms may be printed from the GLO Web site located at www.texasadoptabeach. org. Entries must be submitted on an 8 ½-inch by 11-inch sheet of white paper.
