Joyce Lucille Dawson

Services for Joyce Lucille Dawson, 85, of Whitehouse were held Feb. 10 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Cable officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Burial followed at Whitehouse Cemetery. Mrs. Dawson passed away Feb. 8, 2007 in Whitehouse.

Mrs. Dawson was born Nov. 8, 1921 in Palacios to the late James Curtis and Sallie Dianna Burns Kidd. She was a secretary in the oil and cattle industry and a member of the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by husband, Walter H, Mathis; her sister and brother-in-law, Leis and Harvey White; brother and sister-in-law, James Burns Kidd and Cora Kidd ; and grandson, Matthew McMillan.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Reiffert Dawson: sons, David M. Dawson of Bay City and Bobby Dawson and wife Shirley of Houston, Walter Mathis and wife Doris of Whitehouse; daughter, Linda McMillan and husband Bill of Hot Springs, Ark.; sisters, Faye Clement of Victoria and Billie Ann McDonald of Georgia; and several grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Mark McMillan, Michael McMillan, Greg Mathis, Randy Austin, Ben Spigener III, Phillip Tryon, and Robert Dawson.
