Lady Cats advance to area

Thanks to clutch free-throw shooting by junior Kayla Mason, the Whitehouse Lady Cats pulled out a bi-district win over Texas High Tuesday night, 57- 54.

The Lady Cats will face Frisco Friday in the area round, playing 7 p.m. at Terrell High School. Directions are available on the WHS web site at www.whitehouseisd.org.

Playing at East Texas Baptist University, Whitehouse held the first-quarter advantage, 11- 9, but trailed at halftime by six.

The Lady Cats responded and scored 30 second half points to claim the narrow victory.

Mason hit 4-of-6 free throws in the last two minutes of play and led her team with 20 points.

Brittani Toole added 9 and Alicia Cordova 8, and each had 6 rebounds.

Other scorers were Lauren Clarida with 10, Caroline Perrier 8 and Jordan Knight 2.
