Community Activities

Parkinsonians of East Texas meeting

Parkinsonians of East Texas will meet Thursday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. at East Texas Medical Center Pavilion, 801 Clinic Dr., Tyler. The speaker will be Gina Baxter, Exercise Specialist. Her topic will be Parkinson exercise and guidance program.

Volleyball silent auction Thursday

Come and bid on themed baskets before the First Ladies Spring Spectacular on Feb. 22. Proceeds go to support Lady Cat volleyball teams. Auction runs from 5:30-6:45 in the sports lobby at WHS.

Word of Life Tabernacle hosts celebration

The Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, 6808 Paluxy Drive in Tyler, will host its annual church celebration Feb. 23- 24. Church service on Friday will be held at 7 p.m. The church's pastor, Elder Ed Sanders, will be the speaker. On Saturday, the women's ministry will host a breakfast at 10 a.m. Evangelist Daisy Sanders, from Cedar Hill, will be the guest speaker. For more information, call 903-839-7846.

Troup Little League sign up closing

Saturday, Feb. 24 is the last day to register for summer league baseball/softball for ages 4 to 15. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Troup Baseball Complex located on Hwy. 135. New players need a copy of their official birth certificate and any fees must be paid by this date. Cost is $50 per player with discounts for families with more than one player.

Troup Athletic Booster Club meets Monday

Troup Athletic Booster Club will be having their next monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 26 at 7 pm at Troup High School. All parents with 9-12 grade athletes are strongly encouraged to attend.

WHS PTSA meeting Monday

The WHS PTSA will meet Monday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the lecture hall. Items on the agenda include election of a nominating committee, prom committee meeting and graduation lock in planning. Parents and students interested in helping with prom and the graduation lock in are asked to attend. For more information call Pat at 903-534-9727.

True Love Waits begins for THS

True Love Waits (a Christian abstinence program) is offering two class times, 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Mondays starting March 5. The program will be over a four-week period and will consist of four one-hour sessions. Those interested can pick up permission forms the front office. Whitehouse Recycle Center hours

The Whitehouse Recycle Center is open every Wednesday 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.

Whitehouse library activities

The Whitehouse Library offers these activities: Story time is on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and scrapbooking nights are the third Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Come visit the library!

Troup American Legion hosts karaoke

Troup American Legion Post 418 has karaoke every Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Church Related Activities

Prince of Peace plans pilgrimage

Teens and adults from Prince of Peace Church in Whitehouse will be embarking on a pilgrimage to Italy from July 11- 23, 2007. The tour will include a visit to Rome and Vatican City. Contact Dee Bice of Bice Travel at 903-839-8264, or by email at bicetravel@suddenlink.net. The deadline is Feb. 28.

Whitehouse City Council will meet Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Whitehouse City Council and Court chambers at 311 E. Main.
