Whitehouse 4-H club wins awards The food looked delicious and the display settings were lovely as the District V 4-H Food Show was held at Stephen F. Austin University on Feb. 3. Categories in the food show were main dish, nutritious snack, fruit/vegetable and bread/cereal, with participants also able to compete in the display contest, where each entrant was allowed a 24-inch space to decorate and display their food item. The were also able to enter the "Eating Healthy While Eating Out" poster contest. Members of the Smith County 4-H club competed and won awards, including Krystal Peterson and Jacqulynn Peterson of Whitehouse and Stoker Williams of Arp. In the senior age division, Kr ystal placed third in fruit/vegetable category with Herb Roasted Winter Vegetables. Also in the senior division, Jacqulynn placed fourth in the same category with Stone Fruit and Berry Salad recipe. In the junior age division, Stoker earned second place in the same categor y for his Cheesy Ranch-and-Bacon Mashed Potatoes. The 4-H members had a good time showing their talents and expertise in foods and nutrition and also meeting other club members in the district. There are 12 4-H clubs in Smith County.
