Troup man sentenced for selling fake meth Larry Samuel Palmer, 31, of Troup was sentenced Monday for selling fake methamphetamine to a confidential informant. Palmer received one and a half years in a state jail facilty from 114th District Judge Cynthia Kent, after a Smith County jury found him guilty on Feb. 1 of delivering a simulated controlled substance. Palmer could have faced six months to two years. Palmer and the informant negotiated the drug sale July 20 at Palmer's home in Smith County. The transaction took place July 25 in Cherokee County. Analysts from the Texas Department of Public Safety's lab in Tyler tested the 3.5 grams of suspected meth, but the substance tested negative for the drug. Palmer sold the fake meth for $260. |
