Eva Darby

Eva Darby, 91, of New Summerfield passed away on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 in Mother Frances Hospital, Jacksonville. She was born on Dec. 31, 1915 to Burley and Anna Mae McMeans in New Summerfield.

Graveside services were held Feb. 28 at Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup with Rev. Hank Chandler officiating.

Mrs. Darby was a homemaker and a retired schoolteacher. She taught for 10 years in New Hope and 10 years in Troup. Mrs. Darby was known for her braided rugs, crochet and china painting. She was a very giving person and shared her talents with others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, N.H. Darby; brother, Paschal McMeans; and sister, Ruby Jewell Whitesides.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Garry Clem of Jacksonville; sisters, Estelle Shoemaker of Holly Lake Ranch, and Dorothy Nielsen of Branson, Mo.; her special friend, Tommy Ruth Dotson of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Klein Animal Shelter in Jacksonville or the charity of your choice.
