Tigers win Super Series tourney

Members of the Tigers baseball team and coaching staff celebrate their first-place finish in the Super Series Tournament. The team is off to a fast 5-1 start and will be competing in the Gladewater Tournament starting today and continuing through Saturday. Varsity players are Chris Davis, Jordan Jackson, Thacher Riddle, Daniel Dick, Adam Voigt, Jason Osteen, Austin Braswell, Cody Deese, Curt Lindsey, Nick Harrison, Brice Clark, Preston Pittinger, Joel Hasley, Jaron Hasley, Justan Osteen, Jared Ayers and Hagen Patterson. Cal Sparks is the head coach.
Troup reigned supreme in the Super Series Tournament held over the weekend, claiming first place and notching an early 4-1 season record.

Things got off to a slow start, with the Tigers opening against Cayuga and settling for a 0-0 score, but a win for most runners on base.

"Obviously we did not play very well, the only highlight being Nick Harrison's pitching performance," said head coach Cal Sparks.

Troup bounced back in the second game against a very good Grand Saline team, said Sparks.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and held off a comeback effort to win 4-3. The winning pitcher was Adam Voigt.

Joel Hasley earned the win in game three against Woden, although the story of this match-up was the 14-0 final score.

The championship game was held at West Rusk on Saturday during the wind storm. This game went back and fourth with Brice Clark and Austin Braswell each hitting solo homeruns.

The Tigers rallied in the top of the 7th to overcome a 5-4 deficit and took the lead off of a Adam Voigt 2 RBI double.

Troup claimed the championshp with a final score of 7-5, with the winning pitcher being Austin Braswell.
