Troup Little League registration ends
Saturday, March 3 is the last day to sign up for summer league baseball/softball for ages 4-15. Registration will be 10 a.m. to noon at the Troup Baseball complex on Hwy. 135. Anyone interested in coaching may also sign up at that time. New players need a copy of their official birth certificate and any fees must be paid by this date. Cost is $50 per player with discounts for families with more than one player.
Four Winds Faire begins Saturday
The merry days of the Four Winds Faire begin Saturday, March 3 just four miles south of Whitehouse off CR 2138. The event runs through April 22. For more information visit www.FourWindsFaire.com.
Whitehouse blood drive Saturday
First United Methodist Church of Whitehouse is hosting a blood drive on Saturday, March 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 405 W. Main. Eat prior to donating and bring your driver's license. Give blood…give life!
FBC Troup Forerunners meet
The Senior Adult Forerunners of First Baptist Church of Troup will meet for a noon luncheon on Monday, March 5. Pastor Tolbert Dill, of Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church will bring the program.
Troup Band Boosters to meet
The Troup Band Boosters will meet Monday, March 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the THS band hall.
WHS Prom meeting Monday
All junior parents and students are asked to attend this planning meeting for the Whitehouse Jr/Sr Prom. The meeting is in the lecture hall on Monday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Retired school personnel to meet
Smith County Retired School Personnel Association will meet on Tuesday,March 6 at 2 p.m. Smith County Judge Joel Baker will report on the status of Smith County. The group meets at Plyler Instructional Complex, 807 W. Glenwood, Tyler.
WH Band Boosters to meet
The Whitehouse Band Boosters will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. in the high school band hall. They will be discussing the upcoming Disney World trip.
Dixie Masonic Lodge meets Tuesday
The Dixie Masonic Lodge will meet Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lodge Hall.
Wednesday is Game Day
Game Day for Senior Citizens is Wednesday, March 7 at the Troup library from 1 - 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
WH Library Board meets
The Whitehouse Library board will meet Wednesday, March 7 at 5 p.m. at the library.
Troup VFW to meet
The Troup VFW will meet Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at the Troup Library.
Quilter's Guild of East Texas to meet
The Quilter's Guild of East Texas will meet Thursday, March 8 at 10 a.m. at the TASCA building 3402 Old Omen Rd., in Tyler.
Clean Whitehouse Day set
Clean Whitehouse Day is set for Saturday, March 24. This is a semiannual event for disposal of items not suitable for regular recycle day. If you don't need it…DON'T DUMP IT!
Whitehouse Recycle Center hours
The Whitehouse Recycle Center is open every Wednesday 7-10 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. as well as the first and third Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your recyclable paper, newspaper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum cans and tin cans. The Recycle Center is located on Railroad Ave.
School Related Activities
WHS academic schedule meeting set
WHS Counselors are hosting a parent information session on Thursday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the WHS cafeteria. We will be discussing course selection for next year, four-year graduation plans, and other scheduling-related topics. All parents of current 9th through 11th graders are encouraged to attend. A similar meeting for 8th grade parents is scheduled for Thursday, April 26.
True Love Waits begins for THS
True Love Waits (a Christian abstinence program) is being offered to all Troup High School students beginning March 5. Permission forms are available in the THS office.
